オーティス・レッディングも若くして（２６才）でバックのバーケイズの４人と共に飛行機事故で無くなりました。ジョージア生まれのオーティス・レディングの歌はディープ・ソウルと呼ばれ、アトランティックにヒット曲が残っています。LPでは「ライブ・イン・ヨーロッパ」が忘れられません。ドック・オブ・ザ・ベイは彼の死後に大ヒットしこの曲で彼の名前は世界中のソウルファンが知るところとなりました。オールナイトニッポンでカメちゃんが、これは素晴らしいと言ってるのにテッちゃんが、こんな寝ぼけた曲どこが良いんだ？と言ってた事が懐かしく思い出されます。
